Back to school, what a week so far! Somehow those leisurely summer mornings seem like a distant memory and we’re back into the routine of the school year. Literally yesterday I was telling Ace that I was kind of looking forward to getting back into routine, my busiest time of year has passed and I can finally have a little balance. That’s funny right?! Between school drop-off and pick up, and my actual job (as a personal trainer with my local in-person clients) plus all of my other jobs (nutrition coach, online personal training coach, social media maven, bookkeeper) and my mom-jobs (meal maker, wardrobe consultant to the big girl, volunteer co-chair for an event at school) the idea of balance is laughable. What was I thinking?! I was chatting with another mom at school-pick up about the craziness of this week and we agreed sometimes life just gives you all that you can handle…and then a little more than that! LOL. Why am I telling you all of this? Because when it comes to our health and fitness journey there’s never going to be a ‘right time’ to get started or to get back on track.

All of those things I listed above, those jobs, I have them…you likely have similar jobs, maybe even more jobs than I do. We are more than our jobs: more than moms, wives, employees, volunteers and business owners. Don’t let these things be your excuses, let them be your reasons to take the very next opportunity to make the healthy choice, to choose the short workout over no workout, to take something over nothing for ourselves at every single opportunity.

Kirsta Scott-Dixon nails it when she spoke about finding the perfect time:
“Just so you know, nobody is going to give you any moments. You have to take moments. Hunt them. Chase them. Make them happen. Scratch and gouge moments out of other times. Chip off tiny flakes of moments from the monolith of your day. Use your teeth if you must—bite off mouthfuls of those moments.”

Life is full of obstacles and setbacks, one after the other. It’s hectic and we’ll constantly have unexpected things thrown our way. There will never be a perfect time, so please, please don’t wait for it. Take time, don’t wait. Forget perfection: Just. Show. Up. Get started. Choose action, no matter how tiny. Small actions amplify over time and will move you in the direction that you want to go. Own your process of change and own your journey.

No Nonsense Nutrition Coaching registration opens this Friday for just a few days, and there are only 10 spaces available. If you’re ready to take action, I want to help you do that. Get on the wait list here.
